Solidarity Realty

Solidarity Realty is a local, independent realty firm that provides outstanding service while adhering to its core values of social justice, environmental sustainability, and consumer protection.

Who We Are:

Darcy Haber, Broker/Owner, Ecobroker

darcyHeadshot.jpgDarcy arrived in Madison in 1992 for law school and although didn't plan on staying she fell in love with Madison and never left. Since that time, Darcy has been active in the community as a consumer rights attorney, as a community activist (proud to oppose the Walker agenda), as a real estate professional, and as an involved mom of two wonderful children. She has served on several boards of local nonprofits such as Community Shares of Wisconsin, the Social Justice Center, and ABC for Health. She currently volunteers with Organizing for America, Friends of Union Corners, and when she's feeling particularly coordinated, Habitat for Humanity.

MADISON ECOBROKER®

Darcy particularly enjoys the opportunity to help buyers view homes from an energy and health perspective, and teach opportunities on how to upgrade to energy-efficient features.

As one of a handful of EcoBrokers® in Madison, she is excited to bring her EcoBroker® specialty and knowledge to her clients.

Through the EcoBroker® coursework she can now offer the expertise of being able to highlight the energy-efficient and indoor air quality features a potential home may have, connect you with local experts for testing or for upgrading your home, and discuss financing and incentives for your green improvements. For sellers, it means she has been specifically trained to market the environmental and energy-efficient aspects of your home and target the right market to provide maximum exposure. It excites me to help people move to Madison, or move within Madison to find not only a great home but also the best neighborhood for them.

When she is able to carve out some free time, Darcy likes to bike, cross-country ski, and embark on home improvement projects she should probably leave to the professionals. Darcy and her husband, David, who is a public school teacher at Frank Allis School, have lived on Madison's Near East side for over 14 years and are passionate about the community they call home.

Charlie Brown, Real Estate Consultant

Charles (Charlie) Brown is our newest associate, coming on board with Solidarity in May 2013. Born in Northwest Indiana, Charlie has 25 years of construction experience as both a carpenter and general contractor. Charlie has worked on LEEDS certified projects, energy star projects and has kept abreast of the latest in sustainable building technology.  He cut his teeth with a corporate real estate company before he jumped ship and landed here.  With his experience in all aspects of building, and real estate buying and selling, Charlie is a definite asset to our team. When not working, Charlie enjoys playing bass and guitar, listening to music, live music, gardening, and reading. He also enjoys bicycling and camping.  He supports local farmers and businesses by buying locally sourced foods and goods when possible.  He was very active in the protests against Scott Walker in 2011 and found the protest to be the single most inspiring political movement that he has ever been a part of. Charlie has lived with his wife, two dogs and a cat on Madison’s east side for 6 years. Charlie has one daughter, Katy, who is currently attending MATC.

Julie Bailey, Administrative Assistant

julieBailey.jpgJulie was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, and moved to Madison in 1968.

She joined Darcy at Solidarity Realty in early 2013 and it’s been a great fit, since she is philosophically aligned with Solidarity in her environmental, political, and ethical views. For Julie, the best part about real estate is that she can meet and help interesting, wonderful folks transition to a new chapter in their lives, whether they are moving to or from home ownership.

Julie been working in real estate for the past 10 years and while her specialty is country property she is equally at home working with urban buyers.

She lives on a small farm just outside Madison, where she keeps horses and llamas. An avid knitter, she shears the llamas for their fine fiber.

David FawcettSocial Media Specialist, Right Hand Person

David Fawcett received his master's degree in education here at the UW Madison, escaped briefly to teach in San Francisco and later returned to live here in order to marry Darcy. While he works full-time as a public school teacher, Governor Walker has convinced him that is not enough -- at least not enough for economic security -- so he spends much of his time supporting the family business any way he can. He Tweets and otherwise is responsible for keeping Solidarity Realty on the cutting edge of social media marketing. In addition, he basically does everything Darcy doesn't have time to or can't do -- and he is always a friendly face to see around the office.  David is particularly useful in the summer, and fortunately that turns out to be our busiest time!
